[edit] Abstract
This popular new entry into the crowded arena of econ textbooks is already adopted at over 75 colleges. Why? Two reasons. The author, Tim Taylor, is a fabulous writer. He has street credibility with economists because he's the Managing Editor of the Journal of Economic Perspectives. He's liked by students because he writes clearly, and explains tough econ topics in a way that resonates w/undergrad students.
Here's what Karl Scholz, professor of microeconomics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, said about the author: “Tim is also an award-winning teacher and a highly sought-after editor. The characteristics that have made him successful in these capacities are those I look for in an economic principles textbook — clear organization and sensible, engaging writing, with the content needed to challenge young, smart students. Because of TM’s quality-value package, I am extremely excited about assigning Tim’s textbook this fall.”
The other reason Taylor's book is so popular is that its available in free online version, with reasonably priced upgrade options that includes self-printing version and a black & white paperback version.
