Description:FAQs.org is an interesting site. Whoever is in charge finds interesting content from around the web. Instead of linking to it, however, they appear to copy it outright and host it under the FAQs.org name. I’m not 100% sure this is legal, but for all of the books I researched they were copying only public domain or otherwise freely available content, so I think they’re doing the right thing here. This method is good because it prevents dead links, but bad because they do not update content when the original is updated. I found at least two books online that had much more recent editions than what is hosted at FAQs.

But with several dozen Linux books and a handful more on programming, it is a good place to start. I’m mirroring the “general” books elsewhere on this site. I’d suggest googling any book you’re interested in to see if there is a more recent version before using what’s available on this site.

License varies by book.
