CDX Global sells online training courses for automotive mechanics. The company put this textbook together to use in their classes and decided to give it away for free. Since it came from a company that specializes in the intersection of technology and education, it’s among the most polished of the offerings here at Textbook Revolution. This is what the textbook of the future should look like.

The text is split into hundreds of topics, covering everything from biodiesel to removing and reinstalling a transmission. Each section is illustrated with color graphics or photos, and many sections have videos. See the list below for more features.

Since its launch in July 2006, the online edition has grown to over 200,000 monthly users, plus countless more users who have taken the company up on their offer of the book as a CD. This makes it one of the most popular books at TBR. The book is constantly updated and professionally edited. The best part is that the company has licensed the entire thing under the GNU FDL and they actively encourage reuse and remixing.

The book is available online or as a CD, but not in a PDF or print version.
