Here’s another free book from this well known economist. This one delves into game theory, made famous by John Nash (A Beautiful Mind). It comes in two choices of well-hyperlinked PDF files, the second one optimized for on-screen viewing.
From the website:
Bargaining and Markets ... was published in 1990 by Academic Press, now a division of Elsevier. It presents the modern strategic theory of bargaining and describes, in a consistent framework, several applications of this theory to the study of markets. It uses a small number of models to illustrate the key points in the theories and offers detailed proofs of all results.
With permission from Elsevier, the full text of the book (with errors corrected and references updated) is freely available. It is available in two formats. In one format, each page of the book appears on one letter size page (27.9 cm by 21.6 cm). In the second format, each page of the book appears on a smaller page, 20.3 cm high by 12.7 cm wide. The second format has the advantage that the margins are much narrower, so that (a) when a page of the file is displayed on a screen, the text fills most of the screen and (b) when the file is printed using the Adobe Acrobat Reader and the option “Expand small pages to paper size” is chosen, the text fills most of each printed page.
